INDIANAPOLIS GREENWAYS DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEEREVISED MINUTES OF PUBLIC MEETING -- January 19, 2006 City County Building -- Room 118 Voting Members Present: SILVER, BARTON, PAYNE, MYERS, SHIKANY, DORSA, MOONEY, VOLLMER, and SOMMERS Voting Members Absent: HENNEKE, HICKS, and MASON Others Present: Keith Cheney, Don Colvin, Terri Van Zant, Jon Gick, Jason Kissel (Indy Parks), Ray Irvin, Cindy Porteous Meeting called to order at 5:06 PM Minutes from December 2005 IGDC meeting were approved. Recognition of WTCY's Ken Montgomery. The Board gave special thanks to Ken Montgomery and WTCY Channel 16 for their help in broadcasting the Indianapolis Greenways Development Committee meetings. Director Joseph Wynns addressed the committee and conveyed his level of dedication to the Greenways Division. Director Wynns feels the greenways system is tied to the parks system and is committed to fostering its growth. He notified the committee that there was no decision yet on Ray Irvin's position, and that he was working with the Mayor's office to determine who will serve the Greenways initiative. In the interim, Director Wynns has appointed Parks Resource Development Administrator, Don Colvin, to serve as Greenways Administrator. Jason Kissel, Parks Maintenance and Environmental Education Administrator, addressed the committee. Mr. Kissel's objective is to keep the momentum of greenways commitment going and to offer more expertise and quicker responses to greenways' maintenance issues. Don Colvin addressed the committee, as the interim Greenways Administrator. Mr. Colvin has been an integral part of the development of the Indianapolis Greenways system. He is very familiar with current projects and has a high level of commitment to see them finished. Special recognition of Ray Irvin, former Indy Parks Greenways Administrator. Mr. Irvin has accepted a position as Manager of Greenways and Bikeways for the Indiana Department of Transportation. Motion to recognize Ray Irvins' outstanding achievement and commitment to Indianapolis Greenways. Approved by all. Board unanimously approved Mr. Irvin as an ex-officio member of the Indianapolis Greenways Development Committee.
