INDIANAPOLIS GREENWAYS DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEEREVISED MINUTES OF PUBLIC MEETING -- May 19, 2005 City County Building -- Room 118 Voting Members Present: SILVER, MOONEY, Shikany, MYERS, HICKS, SOMMERS, Dorsa, and QUINN Voting Members Absent: VOLLMER, HENNEKE, PAPENMEIER, BARTON, Payne, JOHN, and MASON Others Present: Terri Van Zant, Lori Keys, Colleen Broderick (Indy Parks) Meeting called to order at 5:13 PM Minutes from March and April 2005 IGDC subcommittee meetings were approved. Other Business The language was approved for the Greenways interpretive sign at the Monon Trail and 16th Street, honoring the O'Bannons, and a request to send the language to the Parks Board for approval was made. PROJECT UPDATES: KEYS and VAN ZANT reported on the following: Eagle Creek Greenway -- The 1.8-mile trail piece currently under construction will connect 56th and 46th Streets. Construction has resumed and trail work is proceeding accordingly. Gradex, the contractor for this project, has begun work on the boardwalks, and asphalt should go down next month. The project should reach substantial completion this summer, with landscaping and other miscellaneous items completed by fall. Fall Creek Greenway -- The bid packet for Phase II from 56th to Skiles Test (Shadeland Ave.) was released by INDOT in March and then pulled due to problems with the construction documents. Project will be re-bid this month. Construction on this project is scheduled to begin by July, with substantial completion by the year's end. Pogues Run -- Pogues Run Art and Nature Park's 1.5-mile loop trail recently received a new layer of crushed limestone. A firm has been contracted to develop a full site master plan, keeping with the park's initiative of merging art and nature; staff is awaiting approval of this contract from the Controller's Office. Town Run Trail Park -- Greenways staff and HMBA have continued to enhance and repair trails within the park, especially those damaged by BMX riders. Often this work is undone by the same riders.
