Paintings of Greenways wildlifeArtist Dino Martins watched closely as he walked Indy Greenways and liked what he saw. "The Greenways are an innovative way of adding color and variety to the urban areas of Indianapolis," Martins said. "They also form an important aspect of local biodiversity and conservation." As a wildlife and nature artist visiting Indianapolis in 1999, Martins saw beauty everywhere he looked while on the Greenways. In his mind's eye, he began to paint and before long he knew what he wanted to do. He approached Indy Greenways and the Greenways Foundation and proposed creating a series of paintings of the flora and fauna inhabitants of the trails and streams of Indianapolis. "I have many ideas that would form such a set of paintings," Martins said. "These include scenes of wildflowers as well as birds of prey, such as the kestrel that hunts over the Greenways all over the city." He offered to donate his work and Indy Greenways happily accepted. Martins then set about his task and crafted the unique, vivid portrayals of wildlife shown here. Now his talented paintings are available as a set of 12 postcards printed in full color. Sets are given to people who make $10 donations to Indy Greenways.
