Water fountain finished on Monon

A sculptured stone water fountain that provides Monon Trail users and canine companions with an opportunity to quench their thirst has been made possible by the generous donations of Bowen Engineering Corporation, the Indianapolis Water Company, Jim and Susan Ruggles, and Capitol Drilling.

The fountain, located west of Westfield Boulevard at 71st Street, was constructed with limestone block from the old Kessler bridge. The Indianapolis Art Center and the city's Department of Public Works assisted with the project, which was coordinated through the Greenways Foundation, Inc.

The fountain dedication date is July 22, 2000 at 10 a.m.
