Indy Parks Greenways arrives at the DepotThrough a generous donation of Barbara and Ralph Rheard to the Greenways Foundation (WRGFI), the Depot clothing store in Broad Ripple, adjacent to the Monon Trail, has become the new headquarters of Indy Parks Greenways. As the store's owners contemplated retirement, they decided to donate their building to the public's benefit rather than do a conventional sale.
In the photo above, Barbara Rheard (second from left) gives keys to the Depot to Tom Olsen, Greenways Foundation, and Ray Irvin and Lori Mariacher of Indy Greenways. Indy Greenways has already begun to occupy the building, which will include a meeting area and public restrooms accessible from the Monon Trail. Space should also be available to locate offices for WRGFI and the Broad Ripple Village Association, although no formal agreements have yet been completed. The building was designed as a re-creation of a train depot in Kirkland, Indiana.
