Indy Greenways Depot Library

Imagine being able to research topics like international greenways or land stewardship or the history of the rails-to-trails movement.

In the Greenways Depot Library, you can. We have built a comprehensive inventory of our extensive materials and created a call number system for organizing and labeling the volumes.

"We wanted to create a place where people can do their homework about greenways," said Ray Irvin, administrator of Indy Greenways.

The sorting and cataloging task was completed by Indy Greenways' newest project assistant, Lori Block (left), a environmental science major with library experience. Once she and other staff organized the library into logical subject categories, she devised a call number system and undertook the larger task of labeling and reshelving. It was a two-month job.

Extra materials were given to partner organizations. Likewise, Indy Greenways invited those partners and others to donate or lend items that might be a good fit for the Greenways Depot Library.

The library is open to the public during normal business hours. Though materials must stay in the Depot, visitors are welcome to use the large table for their work.

To add to the collection or to inquire about open hours for using materials, call the Indy Greenways office at (317) 327-7431. The library is housed at the Depot, 900 East 64th Street, on the north side of Indianapolis.
