Greenways, trails and web site get national notice (June
2002)
- Four of our greenways (Central Canal, Monon, Pleasant Run and White
River) received National
Recreation Trail recognition from the National Parks Service.
- The Monon Trail and the Monon Greenway of Carmel were featured as
June 2002 Trail of the Month on the web site of the
Rails-to-Trails Conservancy.
- And the Indy Greenways web site earned an honorable mention
in a competition hosted by American
Trails.
Partner project (Spring 2002)
Last fall, the Indiana School for the Blind dedicated its new
entrance to the Monon Trail.
It does not yet have public access but Little
Buck Creek is our newest greenway! (December

Monon maneuvers (November
2001)
Indy Greenways Director Ray Irvin talked with 21 soldiers of the 2nd Battalion,
335th Infantry, as they took a break from early morning exercises on November
29. "I'm rather proud that the U.S. Army uses the trail as part of their
full gear training," said Irvin. "It's much safer than the roadways."
