Planning in Hamilton County
Washington Township in Hamilton County is creating a new 5 year
parks master plan, which will include all future plans for parks and trails.
Extensions of the Monon Greenway and Midland Trace will allow connectivity
to Noblesville, Sheridan, Adams Township, Lebanon and Boone County. A
public hearing is set for October 30 at 6:30 p.m., at Cool Creek Park’s
Nature Center. Contact Melody Sweat, Hamilton County Washington
Township Parks and Recreation Director with questions.
South Monon opening
Join Indy Greenways and Mayor Bart
Peterson for the official ribbon cutting of the new southern extension
of the Monon Rail-Trail.
This event will take place Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at 1:30 p.m.,
at the southeastern corner of the Old Northside Soccer Park, located at
16th Street and Bundy Place. Please call the Greenways headquarters at
317-327-7431 with any questions.
Downtown trail being planned
The
proposed Cultural Trail would form a hub for Indy Greenways.

Riders from the National Bicycle Greenway passed
through Central Indiana in May 2003 and wrote a glowing
report about their visit and our trails.
Planting
an idea
As part of its ”Right Tree, Right Place” initiative,
IPALCO donated trees to be planted
along the Monon at 91st Street. The utility also gave trees to be planted
beside the trail south of 54th and 52nd Streets by Keep
Indianapolis Beautiful.

Researchers from IUPUI and IU-Bloomington released the Indiana
Trails Study, the result of extensive interviews with trail users
and neighbors. The Monon Trail was one of six greenways they studied.
