Investing in Indiana’s Trails: $82,000 Awarded in 2025 Grants

In 2025, Greenways Foundation proudly awarded $82,000 in trail grants to communities across Indiana. This marks the largest total investment we have ever made in a single year through our grants program, made possible by strong support from specialty license plate holders and individual donors who believe in the power of trails.

This year also marked an important milestone for the program. We received our 80th grant application since launching the program in 2012, reflecting growing demand and momentum for trail development, maintenance, and capacity building statewide. From 19 applications received this cycle, we funded 14 projects that advance trail access, stewardship, and community connection.

Since the grants program began, Greenways Foundation has invested $347,000 in Indiana trails. These funds have supported everything from early planning and nonprofit formation to construction, maintenance, and innovative programming that brings people onto trails in new ways.
